I have just completed my Masters Degree in Physiology and Biophysics from Georgetown University, where I graduated with honors and received a Medical College Admissions Test score ...See Morein the 99th percentile. In addition to undergraduate and graduate level coursework, I have spent time in bacteriology and neuropharmacology research labs where I performed PCRs, western blots, cell culture, neurotransmitter release assays, and more . While at The University of Miami for undergrad, my professor asked me to run a peer tutoring group for my microbiology class. This experience was valuable to me in that it not only let me gain an even more thorough understanding of the topic matter, but it also unearthed a passion for helping students with their own science coursework.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my ability to help students in college or younger understand the "why" behind complicated scientific topics, which minimizes the need for memorization. I'm also able to connect the science a high school student is studying to real life applications and future study if interested. At the high school level, I can tutor in any STEM subject, but am especially proficient in biology, chemistry, and physics: both for school coursework and AP testing. I can also share with anyone my experiences as a pre-med student, and can offer advice for students interested in pursuing a similar path.
I am in the process of applying to medical school and am especially looking forward to volunteering and giving back. I am giving away my time for free to needs based client opportunities. Before you submit your contact request, I ask that you write a paragraph in the last box explaining why you would especially benefit from my volunteer tutoring in the sciences and what your future goals/aspirations are.
I also speak Russian fluently and can assist with ESL for Russian speakers.
I look forward to meeting with you -
